Protesters challenge acquisition of agri land for airport, say it will hit farmers' livelihood
Farmers and villagers opposing the proposed greenfield airport at Parandur have approached the Madras High Court, challenging the reclassification and acquisition of fertile agricultural lands and waterbodies for the project.
The writ petition filed by the Kali Eri Water Users Association, represented by its president B Kamalakannan, has been admitted and listed for hearing on Thursday.
Sources told TNIE that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor-politician Vijay is backing and providing all the legal support for the case.
