₹400 cr stuck, investors in lurch as Gujarat scams spiral

On the opening day of the Gujarat Assembly on Monday, Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani questioned the Home Department about fraudulent ponzi schemes and scam companies that had duped thousands of investors across Gujarat.
The government replied that 81 complaints had been filed in the last two years under the Gujarat Protection of Interest of Depositors Act, 2003, and public money worth ₹402.21 crore had been trapped, against a meagre recovery of ₹7.53 crore.
