THE treasury benches and the Opposition on Wednesday clashed in the Maharashtra assembly over the rise in farmers' suicides and demand for farm loan waiver. The Opposition twice staged a walk-out over the issue of farmer suicides. This newspaper reported on Tuesday that 767 farmers committed suicide in the state between January and March this year, and a majority of the cases happened in Vidarbha.
