SC raps states on domestic violence status
IN a major relief to social media influencer and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed that no coercive action be taken against him regarding his alleged obscene remarks made on a YouTube show 'India's Got Latent'. However, the court reprimanded him for his inappropriate remarks.
A two-judge bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh passed the order on Allahbadia's plea.
"Arrest of petitioner (Allahbadia) be stayed in all the FIRs registered against him. There will be no further FIR be registered. He can approach the local police of Maharashtra and Assam for protection of life and liberty in case of any threat. He should deposit his passport with the Thane police. He cannot leave the country without the prior permission of the Supreme Court," the court said. Allahbadia is facing legal scrutiny for his alleged obscene remarks on controversial comments on parents and sex made on social media in his YouTube show 'India's Got Latent'.
