TENSE moments prevailed at Kai Kalathur in the district on Friday after a Dalit man employed as a harvester machine operator in a farmland in the village was allegedly murdered by a fellow worker over previous enmity.

The murder took place even as a head constable was brokering peace between the victim and the accused. With relatives of the deceased and villagers soon resorting to a protest with the body in front of the local police station, the head constable in question was placed under suspension while the accused was arrested, sources said.
