Regularise appointments made in aided schools: Teachers' assn to govt

AIDED school teachers in Thrissur district have sought regularisation of their appointment, which has been withheld for the past five years in the name of vacant posts meant for teachers with disabilities.

The district unit of the Aided Higher Secondary School Teachers' Association (AHSSTA) has demanded that the state government make an urgent intervention in the matter.

Over 12,000 teachers working in lower primary to higher secondary schools have been waiting for appointment across Kerala for five years. While one third of them received appointment, they have not received deserving annual increments and other benefits. A majority of the teachers have been working on daily wages, which deprives them of basic rights including cash leave, maternity leave and Onam allowances.
