Witness was grazing goat near crime scene; Cops say he is afraid of being targeted by accused
THE key eyewitness in the brutal double murder of Sudhakaran and his mother, Lakshmi, is reportedly hesitant to give a statement against the accused, fearing for his safety.
According to police sources, the witness is afraid that the accused, Chenthamara, may target him if he testifies.
The witness was grazing a goat near the crime scene when he heard an unusual noise. Rushing to the spot, he allegedly saw Lakshmi cutting the red tree. Police have confirmed that he was just fifty metres away when the attack took place. Terrified by the gruesome sight, he fled from the scene and later informed his parents. The shock left him bedridden with fever for days before he eventually resumed work with a relative.
