INTERNAL revolt in the Congress is intensifying in Palakkad, with district leaders openly demanding the resignation of MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.

Allegations surrounding the legislator, they say, have inflicted "serious embarrassment" on the party and threaten its electoral prospects.

District Congress Committee (DCC) president A Thankappan was among the first to break ranks, urging Rahul to act with caution. "Rahul should have been more careful," Thankappan told reporters, calling the controversy both a moral and political setback for the organisation.
