IN AN effort to implement eco-restoration through collaborative efforts with scientific support, Athirappilly panchayat has joined hands with tribal people to develop a nursery and then plant saplings of rare species.

Chief wildlife warden Pramod G Krishnan had led a workshop on including MGNREGA workers in eco-restoration programmes in the state based on which the plan was chalked out in Athirappilly panchayat. Thrissur district coordinator of MGNREGA, Rahesh Kumar, and principal investigator of restoration of riverine forest project, Amitabh Bachan, provided the training to tribal people to implement the project.
