SHIVAMOGGA district recorded an overall pass percentage of 79.97 per cent and bagged 7th place in the state in II PUC examination. Talking to The New Indian Express, Chandrappa S Gundapalli, deputy director of PU Education, said this year overall performance was 79.91 per cent and the district jumped to 7th place from the previous year of 8th position. Deeksha R, a student of Vagdevi PU College, Thirthahalli, secured first rank by scoring 599, out of 600, in the PUC science stream.

DDPU Chandrappa thanked all lecturers and principals of PU Colleges of the district for their persistent efforts in imparting quality education and also congratulated the students for their academic excellence in the examination.

Out of the total students of 17,762 of Science, Arts and Commerce appeared in the examination held in March, 13,638 students have cleared the examinations. Among the fresh students, 13,406 students have cleared the examinations, out of 16,777, resulting in a pass percentage of 79.91 per cent.

Among the overall students, 5,416 boys have passed, out of 7,496 students, who appeared for the exams and 8,222 girls students have cleared the examination, out of 10,266 students.
