SC to hear Godhra train burning pleas on Feb 13

THE Supreme Court will have a final hearing on February 13 of appeals filed by the Gujarat government and several convicts against the Gujarat High Court order in the 2002 Godhra train burning case.
Refusing to entertain any more adjournment pleas on that date, the two-judge bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Aravind Kumar asked the parties on Thursday to translate the court records from Gujarati to English and digitise them for all parties to access them.
The Gujarat Government has also filed separate appeals challenging the commutation of death sentences to the accused to life terms by the state High Court. The appeals have been pending since 2018.
