NGO Threatens to Intensify Protest to Stall Sharavathi Pumped Storage Project

BJP leader accuses state govt of succumbing to contractors' lobby

DESPITE getting clarification from KPCL and the government's decision to go ahead with Sharavathi pump storage project, the Sharavathi Nadi Kanive ulisi Horata Okkuta has planned to intensify their protest, demanding the government to give up this unscientific project.

Former minister and BJP leader Haratalu Halappa alleged that the government has succumbed to the lobby of the contractors and is planning to go ahead with the Sharavathi pumped storage project. Terming this unscientific, this project not only destroys the environment, flora and fauna of the Malnad region but also poses a threat to the region as this project is being executed under the ground, he said.
