After his arrest in 2009, Kerala Police unearthed info that he spent nearly 24 hrs in the city

- TOBY ANTONY @Kochi

The extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, to India is expected to shed light on his brief visit to Kochi in November 2008. Following his arrest in the US in 2009, the Kerala Police had gathered information indicating that Rana spent nearly 24 hours in the city just days before the attacks.

Former state police chief Jacob Punnoose, who headed the Kerala Police from December 2008 to August 2012, said details of Rana's Kochi stay surfaced only after his arrest abroad, nearly a year after the attacks.
