Elephant Tramples Farmer to Death

Victim is from Andavane village in Khandya hobli; this is second such incident within 5 days in Sringeri
EVEN as the man-animal conflict continues in the Malnad region, a farmer belonging to Andavane village in Khandya Hobli, was killed in an elephant attack on Sunday evening. The victim is identified as Subraya Gowda (63).
On Sunday evening, the elephant had tried to enter an estate by crossing the Ibex high-security fence. The elephant made a sound when it came in contact with the barbed wire fence. Upon hearing the noise, Subraya Gowda came out to investigate the sound. The elephant then trampled him and he died on the spot.
