TN Moves SC Seeking Release of Samagra Shiksha Funds With Interest

The Tamil Nadu government has moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the union government to release the ₹2,151.59 crore due to it under the Samagra Shiksha (SS) scheme, which was withheld last year, along with interest.
In its suit filed in the apex court, the state government said the union government should be directed to pay ₹2,291.30 crore within a timeframe to be fixed by the court with an interest rate in the future of 6 per cent per annum on the principal sum of ₹2,151.59 crore (which the centre should have released for 2024-25), from May 1, 2025, until realisation of the court's decree.
