Opposition parties slam government over increasing crime against women in the state
As the political storm over self-immolation bid by the girl student of FM College intensifies, the BJD on Monday sought intervention of President Droupadi Murmu to ensure protection and safety of women in the state.
In a memorandum submitted to the President at Raj Bhavan here, the party delegation including government chief whip Pramila Mallick, former minister Snehangini Chhuria and Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Deo said, several recent incidents, including that of the FM College student, have exposed the seriousness of the situation in the state. This incident also highlights a complete failure of the grievance redressal system in the state, it added.
