TAHAWWUR Rana, the 26/11 terror attack mastermind, arrested by NIA and now lodged in Tihar Jail, has revealed to investigators that he was present in Mumbai during the 2008 carnage and was a trusted agent of the Pakistan Army, sources said on Monday.
Rana was extradited to India on April 10 after the US Supreme Court rejected his review plea against the extradition on April 4. He is now facing a trial in the 26/11 terror attacks case. At least 166 people were killed in the bloodshed on the streets of Mumbai and in Taj and Trident hotels.
Even as Rana remains under arrest by the NIA and lodged in Tihar Jail, his statement was recorded by Mumbai Police Crime Branch, where he made significant revelations, such as being a trusted agent of the Pakistan Army, the sources said.
