280 community health officers undergo training at a five-day workshop in city
In a pioneering stride towards public health and wildlife conservation, the Mysuru district has emerged as the first in Karnataka to train 100% of its community health officers (CHOs) as first responders in snakebite prevention, management, and first aid.
This landmark initiative by the District Surveillance Unit in collaboration with Humane World for Animals India and The Liana Trust comes in response to the alarming number of snakebite cases in the region. Over the past one-and-a-half years, a whopping 1,033 cases have been reported in the district, including 84 within the city, tragically claiming five lives.
