3 Prisoners Drink Cake Essence on Xmas Eve, Die

Three prisoners died after allegedly drinking cake essence in the bakery unit of Mysuru Central Prison here.
The deceased have been identified as Madesh, 37, from Sathagalli in Mysuru; Nagaraju, 28, from Sattegala in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district; and Ramesh, 27, from Hassan.
It is learnt that they allegedly drank cake essence on Christmas Eve to get a high. They were admitted to KR Hospital in the city after they developed complications.
Madesh, who was serving a life sentence for murder, died on Monday night, while Nagaraj, who was serving a life sentence for rape, died on Tuesday night. Ramesh, who was sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment for criminal intimidation, died on Wednesday morning.
