EVEN as the issue of pollution of Indrani river was raised several times during previous general body meetings of Udupi CMC, Kodavoor ward councillor K Vijay Kodavoor, during the general body meeting, pointed out that the colour of water in the Indrani river has been changing often, indicating that the river is more contaminated now and there are no measures in place to arrest the contamination.

He said that more than 500 wells are contaminated in the locality due to the river's pollution and demanded that a pipeline should be laid to discharge treated sewage water into the sea. Kodavoor stressed that as a quick fix, the CMC should opt for intensive fogging and spraying of mosquito larvicide oil in localities along the path of the contaminated Indrani river, so that the risk of spread of disease is reduced.
