Prayer, ritual inside GP office creates furore

A RELIGIOUS prayer offered by elected members inside Gangolli Gram Panchayat in Kundapur taluk in Udupi district led to furore as political leaders fuelled it.
The election was held on December 8 for 33 seats in the Gram Panchayat, candidates backed by the Congress won 12 seats, 12 others were won by BJP-backed candidates, and the SDPI-backed candidates won seven seats, with two by others.
The Congress-backed front, with the support of the SDPI-backed members, came to power in the Gram Panchayat.
Congress-backed candidate Jayanthi Kharvi became the President, and SDPI-backed elected member Mohammed Tabraz was elected as Vice-president.
