Minister takes both dept heads to task at KDP meeting where they resort to a blame-game
MINES and Geology Deputy Director Krishnaveni and Mangaluru city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal resorted to a blame-game in front of District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao here on Monday over illegal and rampant sand mining in Dakshina Kannada district.
At the KDP meeting, the minister took serious exception to the police and Mines and Geology Department officials' failure to contain the illegal sand mining in the district. Krishnaveni said that they have booked 107 cases and have collected a penalty of Rs 98.97 lakh. In response, the minister said that the cases are only booked for the sake of records, but it has not helped to curb the illegal activity.
