THE Ministry of Ports and Shipping is committed to providing necessary assistance to the coffee industry and attention will be paid to providing well-equipped highway facilities required for coffee transportation at Mangalore port, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways R Lakshmanan has said.
Speaking at the meeting organised by the authorities of the New Mangalore Port Authority with the coffee growers and members of the Chamber of Commerce in Madikeri, Lakshmanan said: "There are very few industries in Kodagu. The coffee industry in Kodagu serves the country and contributes to the Indian economy."
He assured that he would discuss with the Central officials and find a solution to meet the basic demands of the industry.
