AS rescuers on Friday recovered five more bodies from Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, where a cruise boat capsized, taking the toll to nine, they found bodies of a mother clutching her four-year-old son to her chest in a desperate attempt to save him.

“When we started pulling out the woman, we were unable to get her out. We found that she had clung on to her son tightly. We have never seen such a heart-wrenching scene in rescue operations we have conducted in the past,” said the head of a diving team from Agra that was pressed into action.
