KARNATAKA Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked deputy commissioners and superintendents of police why they were not taking action against hate speeches despite clear directives from the Supreme Court. During a review meeting with the DCs, he directed the officials to immediately register cases and take action against hate speeches. The officials should take action against those spreading false information about government schemes and projects, he said, and added that the government is mulling a new law to curb hate speeches.
