12 Distinct Frog Species Identified at Kanthavara Frog Workshop

As many as 12 distinct frog species were identified during the Kanthavara Frog Workshop, hosted by Vana Charitable Trust at the Kanthavara Forest Basecamp located between Moodbidri and Karkala on August 23 and 24.
This two-day event not only highlighted the ecological importance of frogs but also inspired broader advocacy for forest and wildlife preservation. The workshop kicked off with a "broken forest tour" through half-deforested revenue land to understand the impacts of habitat loss. Arpitha Joy, a Ph.D scholar from Christ (Deemed to be University), led the core session, delivering a presentation on the vital role of amphibians in ecosystems and equipping participants with skills
