THE recent instances of hot air balloons going off course and landing in places other than the marked ones have been misunderstood as cases of emergency landing, said balloon pilot Koen Audenaert, a native of Europe, here on Saturday.
Speaking to TNIE on the inaugural day of the two-day Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival organised at the Kalaignar Centenary Jallikattu Arena in Alanganallur, Audenaert said such incidents of balloons moving off the course are normal in balloon flying as these are not controlled vehicles, and its route is heavily dependent on factors like wind speed and direction.
