Priyanka visits families of wild animal attack victims in Nilambur

WAYANAD MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday visited the families of tribal people who were killed in recent wild animal attacks in Nilambur.

Her visit brought the issue of human-wildlife conflict back into focus. She visited the families amid growing public criticism of the forest department, elected representatives, and the government for their failure to effectively address the issue.

Priyanka Gandhi met the family of Mani, a 37-year-old man from the Cholanaikkan community in Karulai, who was killed in a wild elephant attack. She met Mani's wife and children at the Nedumkayam forest station. The family shared their concerns with her, including issues related to their housing, children's education, and employment for Mani's wife and brother. Mani was killed on January 4 in a wild elephant attack in the Karulai forest area while returning home after dropping his children off at a tribal hostel.
