THE Indian Aviation industry, which has emerged as the world's third largest global aviation market, today contributes 53.6 billion US dollars annually which accounts for 1.5% of the country's Gross Domestic Product.

THE Indian Aviation industry, which has emerged as the world's third largest global aviation market, today contributes 53.6 billion US dollars annually which accounts for 1.5% of the country's Gross Domestic Product. It is also responsible for creating 7.7 million jobs across the country both directly and indirectly.

Making a presentation on Sunday on the impact of the industry on the critical role of aviation on the country's economic landscape during the opening day of the annual general meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Amitabh Khosla, its country Director for India, Nepal and Bhutan said aviation is a significant catalyst for employment, economic activity, international trade and investment and global connectivity.
