The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday suspended four state officials on charges of misconduct during the electoral rolls revision process and asked the Chief Secretary to lodge FIRs under provisions of the election laws.
The misconduct was reported to the poll panel by the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) who noted that the officers included incorrect names on the voter list and shared login credentials of their electoral rolls (ER) database with "unauthorised persons".
