Trouble for commuters
HOURS-LONG traffic congestion along the Aroor-Thuravoor stretch of the NH 66, where a 12.75-km elevated highway is currently under construction, creates unending hardships to commuters who depend on the NH. The parallel routes identified by the NHAI and police failed to attract commuters is also aggravating the problem.
Commuters said that more than one and a half hours needed to travel the stretch during peak hours.
The chaos worsens during the installation of girders, which often brings traffic to a complete standstill on both sides of the road, they said.
Many have criticised authorities for their failure to implement effective congestion mitigation strategies.
