KU researchers develop dye-sensitised solar cell

RESEARCHERS at the University of Kerala have developed a dye-sensitised solar cell (DSSC) that has several advantages, including lower production costs, the ability to be manufactured on flexible substrates and efficient performance under low-light conditions.
The newly-developed DSSC, that delivers an efficiency of 2.27% under standard test conditions, aims to achieving an efficiency of 10% in subsequent development phases. The DSSC promises alternative to traditional silicon-based solar technologies.
