INDICATING that the tension between CPI and Kerala Congress(M) regarding their positions in the LDF appears to be escalating ahead of upcoming two crucial elections, the Kottayam district conference of the CPI witnessed a stringent criticism against the KC (M), led by Jose K Mani.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

Speaking at the delegates' meeting of the district conference, which is progressing in Vaikom, CPI leaders stated that KC(M) lacks the influence it claims to possess in Kottayam district.

Presenting the working report, CPI district secretary V B Binu highlighted that the KC(M) failed to make any impact during the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2024, as the LDF candidate lagged behind the UDF in all assembly segments in the district, except Vaikom, which is the stronghold of CPI.

"The Left could secure a majority only in the Vaikom constituency out of the nine constituencies in Kottayam district and that is a matter of pride for the CPI," he said.
