Calls to develop idle land that has turned haven for wild boars

A 10-ACRE plot of land owned by the home department in the Mattapally area of Palamel panchayat, Alappuzha, has been lying unused for decades, creating problems for local residents. The community is calling for the land's development, believing that its effective use could bring much-needed progress to the area. Over time, the land has been overrun by forest, housing animals such as wild boars.

Located along the Asan Kalunk-Pandalam Road and under the jurisdiction of the Nooranad police station, this land was once a police firing range, which ceased operation 28 years ago. Despite assurances from the district police chief three years ago to clear the overgrowth and address the wild boar infestation, no action has been taken.
