Women's Commission files case suo motu
AS part of the probe into the suicide of a 19-year-old newlywed, Shahana Mumthaz, in Malappuram, the Kondotty DySP on Wednesday recorded the statement of the deceased's family. The relatives told police that Shahana took the extreme step due to continuous abuse from her husband Abdul Wahid and his family. They said that Abdul constantly insulted her in the name of her dark complexion and her lack of English language skills. She became mentally exhausted after her husband and family forced her into a divorce.
