Shareholders Approve Demerger of Vedanta into 5 Independent Cos

VEDANTA LTD announced on Thursday that its shareholders and lenders have approved the company's plan to split into five independent entities.
The company, in exchange filing, said 99.99% of the shareholders who voted supported the demerger scheme.
The demerger will result in the creation of five separate companies: Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Iron & Steel, and Vedanta Limited. The latter will include Hindustan Zinc, the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer and third-largest silver producer.
