Commuters struggle in Thalassery as pvt bus workers continue strike

A PRIVATE bus strike, prompted by the assault of a bus conductor on July 29, left commuters in Thalassery and surrounding areas stranded on Saturday. Buses travelling from Thalassery bus stand to various places, including Vadakara, Iritty, Panoor, and Thottilapalam, halted services in protest against the attack on the conductor inside a moving bus on the Thalassery-Thottilpalam route.

A decision to call off the strike, initiated by a group of private bus workers on July 30, was taken during a discussion under the Chokli police on Friday. However, some workers continued the protest, causing significant disruption to the daily lives of people, especially office-goers and students.
