Shepherds demand law without delay, plan protest

WELCOMING the government's decision to bring a Bill to protect nomadic shepherds from various atrocities and attacks, leaders of Shepherd community have demanded the government to convert the Bill into a law without any more delay.
Mallappa Bidari, the community leader said that the community is no longer in a mood to give more time to convert the Bill into the law. To support their demand, the community has decided to hold a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on August 19, where thousands of people of the community are expected to join.
He said that Sheep farming, a traditional livelihood for exploited communities and backward classes in Karnataka, is facing a severe crisis due to increasing atrocities against shepherds.
