Dharwad-B'gavi railway line project picks up pace

PRELIMINARY work taken up under the Dharwad-Belagavi railway line project is progressing at a fast pace and tenders for all major works are expected to be invited by the Railway Department once 80 per cent of the compensation is given to the people whose lands have been acquired.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said that in four months' time, more than 1,200 acre land required for the railway line project was acquired by the state government. He said officials worked hard during the last four months to ensure an effective acquisition of lands, which was vital to get this project going.
