Cops force X to take down fake post targeting Col Sofiya

A post on X claiming that Col Sofiya Qureshi's family in Konnur, near Gokak, has come under attack by RSS activists went viral on Wednesday.

After the Belagavi police warned the X handle to take down the misleading post, it was deleted.

SP Bheemashankar Guled said that the post was fake. The police found that the X account holder is from British Columbia, Canada. The SP said soon after the Social Media Monitoring Cell of Belagavi reported to him about the fake post on X created by @uddinanis867, he said, he commented on the same post in the capacity of the SP of Belagavi that it was fake news and he would take action against @uddinanis867 if he failed to delete it immediately.

"We found that the handle belongs to @uddinanis867, a resident of Canada. His account is verified with a blue tick. We have sought more information from X. If the account holder is an Indian citizen, we will file an FIR against him," said Guled.
