'Backers and planners must be...': Jaishankar dials Rubio

EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the "perpetrators, backers, and planners" of the Phagalgam terrorist attack "must be brought to justice" as the assault has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.
Following the call, Jaishankar posted on 'X', emphasising that the "perpetrators, backers, and planners of the attack must be held accountable and brought to justice."
Stepped in to urge restraint, Rubio spoke separately with Jaishankar and Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, calling for both countries to de-escalate and engage in dialogue. According to the State Department, Rubio expressed strong support for India's fight against extremism and pressed Pakistan to cooperate fully in the investigation.
