ANIISSH'S PILL OF COMEDY MEETS EMOTIONAL COMPLEXITY

The New Indian Express Bengaluru

HAVE seen it all, I have seen the storm, I don't fear the tides... These first few lines from a poem introduced in the second half of the film echo the internal mantra of Aravinda (Aniissh), a recovery agent, a character often seen as carefree and jolly, nicknamed Aaram Aravinda Swamy.

- A SHARADHAA

On the surface, he embodies the happy-go-lucky persona, someone who seems to have life figured out with a smile, but hides a labyrinth of emotional and financial struggles. To his girlfriend Geetha (Milana Nagaraj), his friends (Gowrav Shetty who often finds himself in hot water for casually asking women out, while Vikky grapples with a compulsive need to steal trivial items), and the world at large, Aravinda is an epitome of ease. But as the story unfolds, we realize that this is just a carefully constructed facade.

Aravinda's contradictions run deep. He intentionally isolates himself by switching from a smartphone to a basic phone, yet his home life tells a different story—humble, middle-class, with no extravagances. His pride and sense of dignity shine through; he never accepts charity and is quick to pay his own way, even in the most basic situations.

'Groundwork key for gender parity'

WHILE the recently introduced labour laws have, for the first time, prohibited gender disparity in the workplace and given statutory backing to the principle of ‘equal pay for equal work’, labour and HR experts say that substantial groundwork is required from employers to make these rules truly implementable. They fear that without adequate logistical and infrastructural support, some of these provisions may end up as mere box-ticking exercises.
