Yamuna in full spate, flood alert sounded

DELHI is bracing for possible flooding as the Yamuna continued to swell on Monday, following a heavy discharge of water from upstream barrages.
Officials said the river is expected to reach the evacuation mark of 206 meters by Tuesday evening.
At noon on Monday, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge—a key monitoring point—was recorded at 204.87 meters. This is already above the warning mark of 204.50 meters and just shy of the danger mark of 205.33 meters. Once the Yamuna crosses 206 meters, authorities will begin shifting people to safer areas.
