WITH only a week for the November 13 byelections to the Legislative Assembly from three constituencies, the state government is facing another corruption allegation.

This time in the Excise Department.
The Federation of Karnataka Wine Merchants' Association has accused Excise officials of collecting bribes from them. Members of the association have threatened to shut their shops across the state on November 20 in protest against the "monthly collection" by Excise officials.
