NOT only is the sixth Jharkhand Assembly different in many ways from its predecessors, but also the newly elected MLAs reached the House in various styles on the first day of the special session on Monday—some arrived barefoot, others bowed their heads before entering. Many took their oaths in their regional languages.

Jairam Mahto of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JKLM), who arrived barefoot, bowed his head on the doorframe before entering the Assembly. Jairam was elected MLA for the first time from the Dumri seat.
Regarding his decision to enter the House barefoot, Jairam said, "I am a farmer's son, and just as a farm belongs to a farmer, the Vidhan Sabha belongs to me. When we go to the farm, we go barefoot; therefore, I came to the House barefoot as well."
