Sikh charities, NRIs chip in for Punjab flood relief efforts

FLOOD-ravaged Punjab is steadily getting back on its feet, thanks to the tireless efforts of individuals and organisations from all walks of life, including global Sikh charities, local volunteers, actors, singers and NRIs. NGOs like Global Sikhs, Khalsa Aid, and United Sikhs have been on the ground since day one, providing immediate aid and beginning rehabilitation efforts.

Talking to this newspaper, Global Sikhs founder and CEO Amarpreet Singh said, "We own six boats and were involved in rescue operations in Ferozepur, Fazilka, and Gurdaspur districts. Now we're in the rehabilitation phase. We are constructing around 70 houses, with each house costing approximately ₹4-5 lakh.
