Rahul Says Evasive Reply as EC Refutes Maha Poll 'Rigging'
The Morning Standard
|June 08, 2025
As Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi stepped up the heat on the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging "match-fixing" in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly polls Saturday.
A heated exchange broke out, with both sides coming out in defense of their arguments.
The BJP launched a sharp counter-attack against the Congress leader, with party president JP Nadda dismissing his article as a "blueprint for manufacturing a fake narrative."
In an article published in both English and various vernacular newspapers, Gandhi alleged that the Maharashtra poll "match-fixing" would next happen in Bihar elections and "anywhere the BJP is losing."

A Fantasy Called Chanakya
There is absolutely no historical evidence that a man called Chanakya ever lived during Mauryan times (300 BC) or that he guided Chandragupta Maurya to kingship. What we have is a story based on later Buddhist and Jain chronicles and Sanskrit plays like Mudra-rakshasa, all imagined after 500 AD, i.e, 700 years later.
