Police raid madrassas, masjids amid concerns over unlawful activities

AFTER an interstate ‘white-collar’ terror module linked to the November 10 Delhi blast was busted, police on Thursday conducted inspection of madrassas and masjids across Srinagar as part of a wider effort to curb unlawful and radical activities in places of worship.
Police also conducted searches at multiple locations linked to individuals and organisations affiliated to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (Jel). “Search teams accompanied by executive magistrates inspected the premises of madrassas and masjids to collect evidence related to terror-linked or radical activities inimical to security and integrity of the nation,” a senior police official disclosed.
