Monsoon likely to hit Kerala on May 27, says IMD

THE Southwest monsoon (SWM) is set to reach Kerala on May 27, four days earlier than the usual date of June 1, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast on Monday.

Monsoon likely to hit Kerala on May 27, says IMD

According to the MeT office, in case it arrives on the predicted date, it will be marked as one of the earliest arrivals of the monsoon in recent years.

The earliest recorded arrival of the monsoon was on May 18, 1990. Other early arrivals occurred on May 22, 1999, and May 23 in 1974 and 2009.
