MHA plans to dismantle gangster-terror link in jails

Inmates running criminal networks to be transferred to other prisons

THE Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the law enforcement agencies to work out an elaborate plan to break the networks of gangster-terrorist operating from different prisons across the country, officials said on Saturday.

They have been asked to adopt an “out-of-the-box strategy” to disrupt local nodes of such nexus, it added.

A plan is being worked out to relocate such inmates who continue to run criminal or terror-linked networks from within jails, as this is aimed at severing their existing communication and influence chains, they said.
